Mossy FIAT Blog

We value your family's safety at Mossy FIAT, so we want to share some important child-seat related information today. Modern automobiles feature hardware that lets you install your kids' seats more easily.

The federally mandated Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children system was developed to reduce car-seat installation mistakes and improve children's car safety. Automakers must include at least two sets of LATCH hardware in any new vehicle with more than two seats. When manufacturers launch new vehicles, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety evaluates their LATCH hardware's ease of use.

IIHS team members review a model's LATCH components in five categories, which are Lower-Anchor Accessibility, Force, Clearance Angle, Tether Location and Potentially Confusing Hardware. Each LATCH evaluation produces a Good or Good Plus rating. Cars with Good Plus rated LATCH systems enable faster seat installations, which could enhance your mood and will improve your child's in-car safety.
